As a long time photographer I see a lot of people out there who buy a low end DSLR and start trying to make money as a photographer. That’s ok as long as they don’t represent themselves as a “pro”. But I also see “pro” photographers who have a DSLR, a flash and maybe some software someone recommended to them who only know how to use the AUTO setting on everything. I’ve seen some that don’t even know how to hold the camera properly. So when I came across this little test on a site I thought I would pass it along to those who are shopping for a competent photographer: https://macphun.com/blog/photography-test
Have your short list take this test while you’re watching (so there’s no cheating) and if they don’t get a score of at least 7 or higher then maybe you should think twice about them. Anyone can narrow down hundreds, even thousands, of photographs to display a 8-12 good ones. But are they really that good? Look close. Are they sharp and detailed?
BTW I scored 10 out of 10 on the test. But don’t take my word for it. I’ll show you.
